NAILING IT
THE EMPRESS HAS NEW...FALL CLOTHES
I implore
you ladies
to try one of
my favorite
fall trends
this season:
autumnal floral dress-
es. Pretty,
feminine and oh-so-
fall, one of
these fabu-
lous frocks is
sure to send
you into
a perma-
nent ethe-
real state.

I’d suggest
this beauty
from Banana
Republic for
starters. Sim-
ply pair with
some lace-up boots or open-toed booties
and you’re good to go!
OPI has recently come out with a
D.C.- themed line of nail polish, and it’s
making a huge splash. The 15 shades are
everything we love about D.C., all in one very
sophisticated line. And with clever names
like “We the Female,” “Pale to the Chief” and
“Never a Dulles Moment,” you’re sure to have
as much fun picking out colors as you are
painting those pretty little fingers.

Actress Kerry Washington helped to create
this line, and her signature color, Kerry
Blossom, is a rich wine shade that I can’t
wait to try. Wine is making a big splash this
fall in dresses, shirts and shoes. And check
out “Squeaker of the House,” a gorgeous
purple-brown shade that would pair nicely
with almost any outfit.

And, for an edgier, darker shade, I absolutely
love “Shhh...It’s Top Secret,” for the name of
course, (because who doesn’t sometimes
imagine themselves as a CIA agent in this
town) and for its amazing eggplant-mud
color that’s sure to add an air of intrigue to
whomever wears it.

Melanie Switzer Reilly is a DC area writer, as
well as a proud mommy and wife... and has
never met a pair of fall booties she didn’t like!
READ MY (BROWN) LIPS
As homage to the recent 90s
so many beautiful brown blends to
throwback trend, brown lips are
be had that there’s one for almost
on the scene again, and thankfully
any skin tone. To ease into this color,
they’re here to stay. I find this to be
opt for one like “Twig” by MAC, a
a huge relief, because I’m not a red
lips girl, but shades of brown are
right up my alley.

blend of brown and pink, or go
more bold with one that has a bit
of copper in it, like Lancome’s
If you’re a newbie to this trend,
“Check Me Out,” for the loveliest
don’t sweat it. Thankfully, there are
autumn pucker.
