mother of two sons. She says she
brings the imagination and creativity
into her family. Meena loves to
travel with her family, be it visiting
Washington DC, or going abroad.

They always have their passports
ready. Occupation
Founder of Speakers Academy
which conducts public speaking
training for all ages. Facilitate group
and individual career counseling.

Adjunct Professor of Economics
at Northern Virginia Community
College. Former Human Resources
Professional. What advice would you give
to new or expectant moms?
Focus on spending quality time
with your children. Most of things the
children need to feel loved are very
inexpensive. They will not remember
the nursery, clothes or toys when they
grow up. They will cherish the cuddles
and kisses, which made them feel
secure and loved. You will be their
favorite singer, dancer and stand-up
comedian. How has motherhood changed
your outlook on life?

Having children has made me realize
that that my husband and I have a
huge responsibility of raising them.

It has made us more selfless and
compassionate. After having children, I
also feel that life is full of opportunities
and wonderful things. There is a
discovery to be made at every corner,
be it a book we read together, places
we visit, or the people we meet.

Every opportunity is unique and has
something new and exciting to offer.

What goals do you have
for your children?
My children are interested in
academics and sports. They love
geography due to the places we have
travelled and are National Champions
for the US Geography Olympiad. They
both love running and have competed
in the Junior Olympics. My goal for
them is to become effective problem
solvers and compassionate human
beings. My older son has a keen eye
for detail, loves public speaking and
enjoys being the TV anchor for his
school’s morning news show. I hope
he will keep his love of geography,
broadcasting and analytics and find
a career he enjoys. My younger son
reads all nutrition labels and wants
to eat healthy foods. I hope he can
find a career which will help blend his
enthusiastic and cheerful nature with
athletics and nutrition.

What would you say your secret
is to balancing life/family/work/
motherhood? The secret is to keep things simple.

Buy fewer things, and have more
experiences as a family. We have
stopped buying big birthday or holiday
gifts for our children and take them on
trips instead. The memories we create
are priceless.
