editor@thefamilymagazine.com think it’s safe to say we’ve all been waiting for
this moment: spring! The birds are chirping,
the weather is warmer, and the cherry blos-
soms are once again making their grand D.C.

debut. And for us at Washington FAMILY, we are
totally here for it. So, how are we celebrating?
We’re getting outside, of course, as much as pos-
sible. And we’re hoping you and your family will
join in for some active outdoor adventures this
month, too.

To get you ready to head out under the sun, we have
our “Get Moving!” feature on pg. 16. Amanda Socci
talks about all the great local ways you can keep the
family active and healthy outdoors. From hiking and
biking trails to fun outside games, there’s so much you
can do to keep your family moving while also raising
those feel-good vitamin D levels through the roof.

In the spirit of activeness, we also have a special
emphasis on sports in this issue. Our “Hockey in
This Lacrosse Town?” article on pg. 20 talks about
the rising popularity of the sport as well as the
multitude of benefits.

Because we are heading into the final months of
the school year, Michelle Ardillo shares on pg. 25
how to get your child prepared for the fourth quarter
and tips on finishing out the school year strong.

Now, it wouldn’t be springtime without talk of
quintessential spring cleaning. Our decluttering
article on pg. 24 is here to help you defrost from the
winter and get rid of all the excess stuff that might
by lying around your home since — dare we say it
— the holidays, perhaps? Plus, writer PJ Feinstein
also shares how to get your kids to help out in the
cleaning process.

It’s going to be a fun, fresh new season in the DMV,
and we’ve got you covered on everything you need
to start spring off on the right foot. And, as always,
check out washingtonfamily.com daily for even more
parenting resources, stories and local family-friendly
events happening all month.

Happy spring! ■
