mom review:
TEXT CAITLIN SHARP
I FIT4MOM
had the pleasure of attending
both a Stroller Strides and Body
Back class at FIT4MOM-Lorton-
Springfield-Burke-LakeRidge. Owner Shannon Link personally
welcomed me and my sons to the
Stroller Strides class. Shannon has
created a welcoming, judgment-free
environment and community for moms.

Regardless of your fitness level, you can
feel comfortable and challenged while
exercising. FIT4MOMS also hosts a
weekly playgroup and monthly Moms
Night Out.

Stroller Strides is a 60-minute, total body
class taught by certified instructors who
specialize in pre- and post-natal fitness.

The class incorporates resistance tubing,
your stroller and your body weight,
and is broken up into different stations,
with power walking between stations.

Stroller Strides focuses on the muscles
and the movements we often use in
our daily lives so we can move through
motherhood with the physical strength
we need.

I brought my 5-year-old and 1-year-old
sons with me to classs. My 5-year-old
sang along to Ring Around the Rosie
while everyone in class squat shuffled
around the circle of strollers. My kids
both laughed and giggled when I tickled
them in between squats. With my boys
being four years apart, there aren’t
many activities they can do together, so
it was fantastic to have an activity they
both enjoyed.

Stroller Strides is a great way to exercise
alongside your kids. I definitely broke
into a sweat, and felt great the rest of the
day. I had more patience with my kids
18 April 2016 washingtonFAMILY.com
and felt more energized.

Body Back is a child-free, eight-week
program that includes nutrition
education and high intensity interval
training workouts in an intimate setting.

Classes are capped to 10 participants,
which allows the instructor to give
everyone personal one-on-one time,
either during or after the classes.

Body Back was a much more intense
workout than Stroller Strides. I was
more physically challenged during
the class, and throughout the workout
Shannon encouraged us that “we are
strong moms” and “you can do this.”
The last 10 minutes of class were guided
meditations, which were fantastic. This
time allowed me to relax and let the
stress melt away.

It was really refreshing to have an hour
all to myself where I could focus on me.

Many of the moms who have attended
Body Back classes have experienced
physical and emotional transformations,
and you can see their personal
testimonials on the FIT4MOM website
(lortonspringfield.fit4mom.com). I enjoyed both the Stroller Strides and
Body Back programs. I appreciate that
there are options to workout with or
without my kids. Most of all, I enjoyed
that they are mom-centered fitness
classes focused on giving you strength
for motherhood, regardless of your kids’
ages. FIT4MOM-Lorton-Springfield-Burke-
